Raymond Lightbourn:
“8/4(2). Make him play 5's.”
Alex Eshaghian:
“You want to make a trap play by keeping the 8 and leaving a blot on the 7. This forces blue to break the lower anchor with a 6, giving you a chance to hit more checkers on the other side. You want to make a 5 point board and give blue a single anchor. This is why you want a spare on each anchor in these situations if possible.”
Karsten Nielsen:
“Fives are still bad on the other side of the board. 8/4(2) stacking the 4 point is very tempting.
7/3(2) lacks flexibility. Therefore could easily not be better than clearing from the rear.
7/3 7/5 6/4 is more flex. And it squuezes the opponent out from the back as well. This would be my play.”
